The Young Reader's Choice Award (YRC) was officially established in 1940 to
promote reading for enjoyment. While there certainly are many children's book
awards this is one of the very few that allow students to VOTE on a book they like
the most. Voting takes place every year in March.
There are two divisions: Junior (grades 4-8) and Senior Division (grades 9-12).
