DIRECTIONS: Each student will choose a group of three students to work with during the Native Americans Group Project. Your teacher will assign you a Native American group from the Pacific Northwest. The groups' job will be to research "a day in the life" of your assigned tribe. The project consists of the following components: research, written paper (typed), visual aid, and a presentation by all group members.
- REQUIREMENTS Pacific Northwest Native Americans differ from tribe to tribe. Although some Native American groups have commonalities, each tribe has their own way of life. One of the goals of this project is to compare and contrast your tribal group with others. In order to accomplish our goal, each group will be reequired to research the following questions about their tribe (125 pts) (Remember: Question must be typed!)
- What type of environment (land, climate, rivalry) did your tribe live in? How did their environment affect their way of life? (2+ paragraphs)= 25 pts
- Describe the social organization of your group? Who were the leaders of the tribe? What role did men, women, and children play in the social organization of the group? (2+ paragraphs)= 25 pts
- Explain the type of religion that was practiced by your tirbal group? Did religion play a big role in their lives? Why or why not? (2+ paragraphs) = 25 pts
- Describe the dwelling/ shelters your group lived in. (1+paragraphs)= 25 pts
- Explain the kind of clothes your tribe wore? What type of material was used to make the clothes? Did clothes differ from season to season (1+ paragraphs)= 10 pts
- What sort of ceremonies did your tribal group participate in? Why were they important? (1+ paragraph) = 10 pts
- What kind of hunting and gathering techniques did your tribe use? What toools and weapons did they use? (1+ paragraphs) = 10 pts
- List the type of foods your group ate. (1+ paragraph) = 10 pts
VISUAL AID
- Each group will be required to provide a visual aid pertaining to their tribe.
- The visual aid must be large enough to be seen from a distance (examples: power point, 3-fold presetation board, large butcher paper, etc.)
- The visual aid should include the following:
- A) Title of your tribe (bold letters)
- B) Information Facts (typed)
- C) Pictures/Drawings
