TASK 1

Washington State Geography Myth

  1. Native Americans had stories they told about how the sun came in the sky, or lakes and rivers formed. They did not have the science we have today. Today you will write at least one paragraph (5 sentences) creating a myth about one of the landforms in Washington State. Make sure you title you page, record your page number in your Table of Contents, and have some fun!

TASK 2

BB Card

  1. Each Friday we will play a game of PNW Geography Baseball based on questions you will write each week on the topic we are studying. You are required to turn in one question on Tuesday and one question on Thursday each week. On a 3 X 5 notecard write a question that relates to what everyone has read, discussed or viewed as a whole class about PNW Geography. The question may be multiple choice, direct question or definition. You must include the answer and BOTH first and last name for credit.
  2. The Friday game and rules will be discussed in class. :.)

TASK 3

VOCABULARY I

  1. Define each word using a logical source, PNW ONLINE DICTIONARY , classroom dictionaries, text book, myself or another teacher (if you cannot find the word in either books). You will have x number of words to do and you must pick the remaining words to equal 10 words defined.
  2. After defining each word, write one sentennce for each word using it correctly.
    OR
  3. Write one paragraph (minimum 5 sentences) logically using all 10 of your vocabulary words.

TASK 4

TIME in Geography

  • Lecture Notes on Time Abbreviation on p #.
  • Glue the Time Scale onto the facing white page #
  • Copy all of the selected Time Facts on the next lined pages.
  • Use a highlighter and select the facts that you feel are too important not to include. For example, the date of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens should be in your personal PNW Timeline.
    Put your timeline on the next white p #.

  3. Word Find/Mazes available
  4. FINISH ANY UNFINISHED WORK!

    1. WASHINGTON ELEVATION MAP
      Using the Washington TEMPLATE, create a map of Washington State by inserting the template behind the next blank page with the southern end of Washington close to the staple and the northern end with Puget Sound facing outward to open part.
      Number this page # on the lower left corner (and in your Table of Contents). Working with either a black and white or a color map replicate in your notebook book an elevation map. Whether you use BLACK AND WHITE or COLOR make sure you include a map key. Also include a compass rose. ONLY USE BLACK OR COLORED PENCILS ON ALL MAPS
